Tottenham Hotspur will face off against RB Leipzig on February 19th at 3:00 p.m. in Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The two squads will be playing in the first leg of the round of sixteen in the UEFA Champions League competition. It will be important for Tottenham Hotspur to get a favorable result in the first leg while they have a home field advantage.
The Spurs are coming off of a 3-1 loss to Bayern Munich in group stages but already had enough points to advance into the elimination stages. They finished second in Group B. The Spurs will be going without their premiere striker Harry Kane who suffered a hamstring injury in January against Southampton. Kane was the Spurs leading goal scorer in the Champions League with six goals.
RB Leipzig’s last fixture ended in a 2-2 draw against Lyon. They will be enjoying their first appearance in the round of sixteen of the Champions League. They will be lead by forwards Emil Forsberg and Timo Werner who both have three goals in Champions League play so far.
The Spurs recently made a coaching change in November of last year hiring legendary manager Jose Mourinho. The move by the Spurs brings in a highly skilled manager with plenty of Champions League experience. Mourinho won a Champions League title in 2004 with Porto and in 2010 with Inter Milan.
